The field of physiotherapy, also known as physical therapy, focuses on optimizing movement and function in individuals of all ages. Physiotherapists are healthcare professionals who assess, diagnose, and treat conditions that affect a person's ability to move and function effectively. They use a variety of techniques such as exercise therapy, manual therapy, electrotherapy, and education to help patients manage pain, improve mobility, and regain strength and function.

Physiotherapy can be beneficial for a wide range of conditions, including musculoskeletal injuries, neurological disorders, cardiopulmonary conditions, and sports injuries. Physiotherapists work in various settings, including hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, schools, and community health centers.

The Department of Physiotherapy within an academic institution typically offers undergraduate and graduate programs in physiotherapy, providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become licensed physiotherapists. These programs typically include coursework in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, kinesiology, therapeutic modalities, and clinical practice.
