Our Mission
In line with the university’s mission to create a learning environment that nurtures a sound moral and intellectual culture, the Academic Affairs Office’s mission is to empower students and faculty by providing resources, guidance, and support to achieve academic excellence. Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development: Collaborate with faculty and academic departments to design, review, and enhance curricula that meet the evolving needs of students and the workforce.
Academic Policies: Establish and oversee academic policies that promote fairness, transparency, and academic integrity across the university.
Faculty Support: Provide professional development opportunities and resources for faculty to enhance teaching effectiveness and engage in scholarly research.
Student Success: Implement initiatives aimed at improving student retention, graduation rates, and overall academic performance.
Accreditation and Assessment: Ensure that academic programs meet accreditation standards and regularly assess educational outcomes for continuous improvement.
Diversity and Inclusion: Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the academic community, ensuring all students and faculty have equitable access to opportunities and resources.
Units Under Academic Affairs
The Office of Academic Affairs is dedicated to the effective management of academic programs at the university, ensuring adherence to academic regulations. Within this office, several units work collaboratively to uphold academic excellence, including the followings:
Senate and Ceremonies
This unit acts as the secretariat for the University Senate, recording minutes from all meetings and ensuring the timely implementation of Senate decisions and approvals. Additionally, it serves as member in the Ceremonies Committee, which organizes events such as Convocation, Congregation, Matriculation and Inaugural Lectures.
Examinations & Records Office
This unit is responsible for overseeing all examinations within the university, this unit also handles critical tasks including the preparation of examination questions, distribution of examination materials, processing results for approval by the Senate and Vice-Chancellor, and managing the examination schemes and examiner lists. It also monitors lecture and examination timetables and addresses reports of academic misconduct following Vice-Chancellor approval.
This unit also safeguards student records and ensures prompt issuance of transcripts upon request. It also provides statements of results for NYSC, scholarship approvals, and other official purposes.
Admissions Office
Tasked with admitting qualified candidates in accordance with National University Commission standards, the Admissions Office addresses gaps created by graduating students and manages general inquiries regarding admission. Its functions include conducting post-UTME screening exercises, selecting eligible candidates, registering admitted students, verifying academic credentials, and confirming student status. The post-UTME screening to ensure the quality of incoming students into the university.
Certification Unit
This unit prepares graduation certificates once academic requirements are met and Senate approval is granted. It also verifies the credentials of former students upon request from both private and public organizations. The unit has successfully ensured that certificates are ready as requested by regulatory bodies, facilitating a smooth collection process for graduates.
