CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR ADMISSIONS INTO POSTGRADUATE
PROGRAMMES IN THE 2026/2027 ACADEMIC SESSION (GENERAL ADVERT)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into various Postgraduate degree programmes at Chrisland University.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
- Candidates are advised to study thoroughly the advertisement before completing the application procedure.
- Candidates are advised to choose programmes that aligns with their career or choice of study.
- Applicants are to note that Chrisland University will not indemnify anyone for mistake made arising from a wrong application
- An academic session for Postgraduate programmes at Chrisland University is two semesters of 12 calendar months, commencing on 5th of October 2025 to 30th September of the following year. The 12 calendar months runs automatically from the date of first registration (ie 2nd October yearly).
- Applicants are to note that programmes automatically lapse at the expiration of the prescribed maximum duration for each programme. A candidate may, however, apply for an extension as stated in Chrisland University Admission guidelines.
POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES OFFERED
- Postgraduate Diploma Programmes
Postgraduate Diploma are available to candidates with Third Class (honours) degrees or graduate intending to change initial programme of study within the field of study of the previous programmme.
- Master Degree Programmes
M.A.; M.Sc.; MPA.; and MBA. degrees run for a minimum period of 18 calendar months and a maximum period of 36 calendar months for full-time candidates. All Master degree programmes are by course work. This is in addition to a research report at the end of which a Dissertation is mandatory.
- Phil. Degree Programmes
Candidates who scored between 50.00 and 54.99 percent or 3.00 – 3.49 CGPA score on a 5-point scale, can apply for admission into the Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree programme. The M.Phil. degree programme is available only to full-time candidates. It runs for a minimum period of 18 calendar months and a maximum period of 24 calendar months, and a Dissertation is produced after the research work.
- Phil./Ph.D. Degree Programmes
Candidates who scored between 55.00 and 59.99 percent or with a CGPA between 3.50 – 3.99 CGPA score on a 5-point scale can apply for admission into the Master of Philosophy (M.Phil./Ph.D.) degree programme. It runs for a minimum period of 6 semester and a maximum period of 8 semester, and a Dissertation is produced after the research work. Candidates in this category are eligible for conversion to Ph.D. programme, following a progress assessment report to be made by a Panel of Examiners at the end of the first session of registration. To be eligible for conversion to the Ph.D. programme, candidates are expected to score not less than 60% (aggregate) at the end of the first session.
- Degree Programmes
These are available to holders of M.A.; M.Sc.; and M.phil degrees, with a minimum score of 60% or a minimum of 4 points on a 5 points Grade Point Average (CGPA) scale in their Master degree programmes. A Ph.D. degree programme runs for a minimum period of 6 Semester and a maximum of 8 semester. Relevant Courses will be taken for the Ph.D. studies where prescribed, and a Thesis is required at the end of the Ph.D. programme.
ELIGIBILITY FOR ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES
General Requirements:
- Applicants are expected to submit their application forms online, together with scanned copies of their credentials.
- After the submission of the application forms online, as stated in (i) above, all supporting documents and the hard copy of the application form should be printed and submitted as well
- All applicants must have 5 O/L Credit passes in the relevant subjects, which must include English Language for Arts based while Mathematics for Science and Social Science-based courses.
Admission Requirements for Master’s Degree Programmes
- Applicants seeking admission into Master’s degree programmes must hold at least a Second Class Honours (Lower Division) Bachelor's degree from Chrisland University or any other university recognized by the Chrisland University Senate and approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
- Candidates applying for programmes within the same field as their undergraduate degree must meet the minimum academic requirement stated above. However, those applying for programmes outside their undergraduate discipline may also be considered, provided they meet the Senate’s requirements and pass a qualifying examination/hold a relevant postgraduate diploma
- All applicants must arrange for their official undergraduate transcripts to be sent directly to the Secretary of the Postgraduate School and emailed before the deadline. The Postgraduate School will not be responsible for any misdirected transcripts.
Admission Requirements for Ph.D. Degree Programmes
- Applicants must possess a relevant Master’s degree from a recognized university, with a minimum weighted average score of 60%. Shortlisted candidates will be required to pass qualifying interviews and assessments conducted by the relevant department and approved by the Postgraduate School.
- All applicants must ensure that an official copy of their academic transcript is sent directly to the Secretary of the Postgraduate School and emailed before the stated deadline. The Postgraduate School will not be held responsible for any misdirected transcripts.
- Applicants for the Postgraduate Diploma and Master Degree Programmes will be subjected to a screening and interview, irrespective of the class of degree obtained. However, applicants from Chrisland University with a First Class or a Second Class, Upper Division (Honours), provided such applicant is not applying to a department that is different from the one in which he/she graduated from at the undergraduate level, will be exempted from the qualifying examination.
- International applicants (who are domiciled outside Nigeria and non-Nigerians applying from outside the country) shall take the qualifying examination online.
- All applicants are requested to submit a proposal of not more than 5 pages, giving details of their intended areas of research interests. This should be sent electronically no later than Monday, 3rd of August 2026.

APPLICATION FEES
The non-refundable application fee for all programmes is ₦25,000.00 (Twenty-five Thousand Naira) only for applicants within Nigeria and payment should be made online.
