The Works and Services Unit plays a pivotal role in the overall management of the University’s physical infrastructure. Our key responsibilities include developing, maintaining, and upkeep of campus facilities to ensure a conducive environment for academic and administrative activities. We are also responsible for the planning, supervision, and implementation of all construction projects, renovations, and maintenance of physical assets within the university premises.
In addition, the unit ensures the timely provision of utilities such as water, electricity, and waste management, thereby supporting the smooth day-to-day operations of the university community.
Projects and Development
Ongoing Projects:
Maintenance Activities
- Male Hostel: Regular upkeep and repairs to ensure the facility remains in good condition.
- Female Hostel: Maintenance works to improve living conditions and address existing issues.
- Annex (VLBC) Campus: Infrastructure maintenance, including electrical, and plumbing repairs.
- Staff Quarters: Continuous maintenance work to enhance the comfort and functionality of residential spaces for staff.
- Offices: Maintenance of administrative and academic offices to ensure a productive working environment.
Planned Projects:
1. Hostel Construction:
- Female Hostel: A new 792-bed space facility is in the planning phase and is expected to begin soon. It is targeted for completion before the 2025/2026 academic session.
- Male Hostel: Plans for a 600-bed space facility are also underway, with the same timeline as the female hostel project.
2. Academic and Administrative Buildings:
- Construction of multi-purpose academic buildings to meet the growing needs of staff and students.
3. Sports Facilities:
- Development of a 5-aside football field to encourage sporting activities and physical fitness.
- Construction of an Olympic-standard basketball court to promote sports and extracurricular activities.
Future Projects (In-view):
- University Medical Center: A modern medical facility is planned to serve the health needs of the university community, equipped with the latest technology and healthcare services.
- Ultra-modern Library Complex: A new library complex is being envisioned to enhance research capabilities and provide an academic hub for students and staff.
- College of Pharmacy Building: Plans are in place for the construction of a dedicated building for the College of Pharmacy, supporting specialized academic programs.
