Chrisland University Hosts Gender Mobile Team for Training Workshop on Sexual Harassment Prevention
Chrisland University today welcomed the Gender Mobile Team to campus for the commencement of a sensitization and training workshop aimed at promoting a safer and more inclusive learning environment for both staff and students.
The Gender Mobile Team was received by the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Registrar, senior management staff, and other members of the University community. The visit marks the beginning of a collaborative effort to strengthen awareness, prevention, reporting, and response mechanisms regarding sexual harassment and sexual assault within the institution.
The workshop, facilitated by Gender Mobile in partnership with CampusPal, seeks to educate participants on recognizing, preventing, and appropriately responding to cases of sexual harassment. The training also introduces innovative digital tools that provide confidential channels for reporting incidents and accessing support services.
Speaking during the reception, the Vice Chancellor reaffirmed Chrisland University’s commitment to maintaining a secure and conducive academic environment where students and staff can thrive without fear of harassment, discrimination, or abuse. She’s noted that the training aligns with the institution’s core values of integrity, respect, and excellence.
The team lead Ms Omotunde Blessing says the workshop participants will be exposed to practical strategies for intervention, including the “4D” approach Direct Action, Distract, Delegate, and Delay which equips bystanders with safe and effective ways of responding to incidents of harassment.
Also, attendees will also learn about institutional policies, reporting procedures, and the use of the CampusPal application for case reporting, tracking, and survivor support.
The training is expected to engage a wide cross-section of the University community, fostering greater awareness and encouraging a culture of accountability, respect, and mutual support.
The management of Chrisland University expressed appreciation to the Gender Mobile Team for bringing the initiative to campus and expressed optimism that the workshop would further strengthen the University’s efforts in safeguarding the welfare and dignity of all members of its community.
