Association Of Nigerian Authors Pays Courtesy Visit To Chrisland University

The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Ogun State Chapter has paid a courtesy visit to Chrisland University, Abeokuta, in a move aimed at strengthening literary collaboration and promoting creative writing among students.
The delegation which was led by the leadership of High Chief Abiodun Oladimeji Lasile the Oruntan of Owu Kingdom and members of his executives, was warmly received by the University Management at the Vice Chancellor’s Chamber. The visit provided an opportunity for both institutions to explore areas of partnership, particularly in literary development, mentorship, research, and cultural engagement.
In his remarks, the leader of the ANA delegation commended Chrisland University for its commitment to academic excellence and holistic education. He noted that universities play a crucial role in nurturing the next generation of writers, critics, and cultural ambassadors. According to him, collaboration between ANA and the University would create platforms for budding authors to refine their craft through workshops, readings, literary competitions, and publishing opportunities.
Responding on behalf of the University, the Vice-Chancellor Prof, Oyedunni Sola Arulogun expressed appreciation to the Association for the visit and for its longstanding contributions to the development of Nigerian literature. She reiterated the University’s readiness to partner with ANA in fostering creativity, critical thinking, and intellectual discourse among students.
The Vice-Chancellor further emphasized that literature remains a powerful tool for national development, cultural preservation, and social transformation. She assured the delegation that the University would support initiatives that encourage reading culture and creative expression within the campus community. She also expressed optimism at some of the literary products from this collaboration.
Highlights of the visit included discussions on hosting joint literary events, establishing a writers’ club affiliation with ANA, and organizing mentorship sessions featuring renowned Nigerian authors. Both parties agreed that sustained engagement would enrich the academic and cultural life of students.
Other members of staff present at the courtesy call include Mr Samuel Omotoso Registrar, Dr. Goodluck Ifijeh Ag University Librarian, Mrs Dolapo Akintoye Public Relations Officer, Mr Segun Adetipe P.A to the Vice Chancellor, and Mr Olalekan Adebagbo Studio Technologist.
The courtesy call ended with a presentation of souvenirs and a group photograph, symbolizing the beginning of what both institutions described as a mutually beneficial partnership dedicated to advancing literary excellence in Nigeria.
