Professor Raphael Chinyelum Mordi, hailing from Ubulu Uku in Aniocha West Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria, embodies a distinguished career in the field of Chemistry. Professor Mordi academic journey commenced at the University of Lagos, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry with First Class Honors in 1981. He furthered his education at the University of Manchester (UMIST), obtaining his Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1987.
With over 28 years of teaching experience in various capacities, Professor Mordi's academic leadership is profound. Notably, he has served as Ag. Dean of the College of Natural and Applied Sciences, Dean of Student Affairs, and Head of the Chemistry Department, and is currently the Dean, College of Natural and Applied Sciences at Chrisland University, Abeokuta. His dedication to academic excellence is evident in his diverse range of courses taught, spanning from General Chemistry to Research Methodology in Chemistry.
Professor Mordi's scholarly contributions extend beyond the classroom. He is an esteemed reviewer for reputable journals such as the Natural Products Journal, Iranian Journal of Science and Technology, and Food Chemistry. His research interests encompass Food Irradiation, Natural Product Chemistry, Waste Conversion, and Pollution Control using zeolites, and Energy and Biogas. Throughout his career, has garnered recognition and accolades, including the Commonwealth Scholarship for postgraduate studies and various prizes for his academic achievements. His commitment to mentorship is evident in the supervision of numerous BSc, MSc, and PhD students, fostering the next generation of scientists.
He holds an academic certificate in Industrial Psychology and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors (CIEA) and the Institute for Learning (IfL). With a strong background in industrial psychology, Professor Mordi brings expertise in understanding human behaviour and organisational dynamics to his research and professional endeavours.
