History and International Studies

The Department of History and International Studies teaches the study of history and world affairs, in the context of the University’s philosophy of integration of faith and learning, to inculcate in the future leaders a sense of judgment and discernment in the management of human affairs.


Note: To achieve these objectives, the Department draws on the expertise of relevant disciplines in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences to explain the historical forces and developments with which they deal.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS


Candidates must have obtained five credit passes including English language, History/Government. Geography and any other two subjects from the Arts and Social sciences.


UTME Requirements: Candidates must combine History/Government and any other two subjects from Arts & Social sciences at the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations [UTME].


 Direct Entry: Two “A” level passes in relevant subjects including History/Government and any other related subject.


DURATION OF PROGRAMME


The normal period for an honors degree shall be eight (8) semesters.  It has duration of four years for students admitted with the Ordinary Level Certificate, and three years for those with Advance Level Certificates.
