The visit, which held at the historic Ake Palace in Abeokuta, symbolized a renewed commitment to strengthening the ties between academia and traditional leadership, fostering collaboration for cultural and educational advancement.
Accompanied by a distinguished delegation that included the Registrar, Mr. Samuel Omotoso; the Acting Bursar, Mr. Moses Esah; the Acting Dean of the College of Law, Dr. Kayode Akinsola; and other senior staff members, Professor Arulogun was warmly welcomed into the palace by the Asiwaju Baamofin of Egbaland, Chief Sunday Oduntan. Chief Oduntan, in his address, highlighted the enduring bond between the Egba people and the leadership of Chrisland University, referencing the cordial relationship enjoyed by His Royal Majesty with the university's founding family, the Awosikas.
In her remarks, Professor Arulogun expressed her profound appreciation for the warm reception accorded her and her team. She acknowledged the rich cultural heritage of Egbaland and emphasized the university's dedication to fostering strong community relationships. The Vice-Chancellor, a renowned scholar in public health and education, also reaffirmed her commitment to steering Chrisland University toward greater achievements, building on the solid foundation laid by her predecessor, Professor Chinedum Peace Babalola, who served with distinction for seven years.
Professor Arulogun extended heartfelt gratitude to His Royal Majesty and the palace chiefs for their hospitality, reiterating the university’s pledge to contribute meaningfully to the development of Egbaland and beyond.
Oba Gbadebo, in his response, lauded the leadership of Chrisland University for their consistent engagement with the traditional institution. He assured the Vice-Chancellor of his continued support and prayers, expressing confidence in her capacity to sustain and enhance the university's legacy of excellence. The monarch also offered blessings for Professor Arulogun’s tenure, wishing her unparalleled success in her efforts to elevate the institution and nurture its students.
The occasion was graced by other prominent chiefs, including the Balogun of Egbaland, Chief Atobatele, and the Apena of Egbaland, Chief Alani Bankole, whose presence underscored the significance of the visit.
