Renowned Scholar, Prof. Chinedum Peace Babalola Bags Gateway Best VC Award
Professor Chinedum Peace Babalola, the Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland University has been named the best Vice Chancellor in Ogun State for the year 2022 by the Gateway News Update.
Professor Babalola along with the Executive Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency Gov. Dapo Abiodun MFR was among the 34 distinguished personalities in the State who were honoured at the 17th anniversary of the publishing outfit on Thursday, 26th January, 2023 at the Valley View hall of the Government House.
The award recipient in her response, appreciated the Publishers of Gateway News Update for the recognition accorded her, and for the pivotal role the publishing house has been playing by showcasing Ogun State and its people.
According to her, the honour and award could not have been possible without the support and the enabling environment provided by the Chancellor of the University, High Chief Dr. Mrs. Winifred Awosika, OON.
Professor Babalola who has been a recipients of several awards is one of the leading and outstanding female pharmacist researchers with the highest academic fellowship and awards.
She is the first female Pharmacist to be honoured with the Fellow of the Academy of Science (FAS) which is the highest scientific award in Nigeria and first female Nigerian Fellow of African Academy of Sciences (FAAS).
Babalola is the immediate past Board member and Vice Chairman of Committee of Vice Chancellors in Nigerian Universities (CVCNU) as a Vice Chairman. She was selected twice (2016 & 2018) as one of 10 most influential female scientists in Nigeria and one of the 100 leading Women in Science in Africa (2021).
Her appointment as Vice-Chancellor, Chrisland University, made her the first female pharmacist Vice-Chancellor in Nigeria and first female Professor of the premier University of Ibadan to be appointed a Vice-chancellor, and she is currently serving her second term as Vice-Chancellor of the Institution.
