The Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland University, Abeokuta, Professor Chinedum Peace Babalola on Thursday 3rd October, 2019 received the first ever Gold award of excellence on quality health care at the main auditorium of Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
The award which was bestowed on her by Board of Southwest Excellence Awards at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTHC) was in recognition of her notable contributions to healthcare development in Nigeria.
The excited, Professor Babalola, said,
"I received one of the most humbling and humble awards today - the first ever Gold award
By Board of Southwest Excellence Awards at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTHC) based on nominations and votes by those I do not even know".
She said further that she had jettisoned the award thinking it was fake but the Registrar, Mr. David Olowola investigated and ensured the authenticity and genuineness of the conveners.
Other known and unknown professionals in healthcare delivery were also honoured.
The former Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko was honoured for his exemplary work on Child and maternal health in Ondo State.
Professor Babalola dedicated the award to God Almighty and her family members who gave her the platform to be what she is.
She also appreciated Chrisland University family led by the Registrar for their support and presence at the occassion.
