NUC Ranking: Chrisland University VC Reiterates Commitment To Sustain Tempo Of Quality Research
Chrisland University management, said the latest ranking of the ivory towers by the National Universities Commission(NUC) is a wake up call to the reality that no institution of learning can exist in isolation.
The Vice-Chancellor, Chrisland University, Prof. Mrs. Chinedum Peace Babalola, FAS, made the disclosure while addressing staff members in her official reaction to the just released ranking.
The University which is located at Abeokuta recorded a modest ranking as the 9th best private university in Nigeria and 17th among all federal, states and private varsities nationally.
Prof Babalola said the reality now is for universities to settle down to serious academic work and to deepen the focus on research efforts capable of addressing the challenges facing the nation.
The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that the University which has only recently had its 3rd Convocation Ceremony recorded a modest performance, beating other old universities in terms of ranking in various indices.
But, she enjoined all staff that this is not the time to rest on our oars as the University will press ahead to introduce more reforms that would deepen quality control in our academic content and research focus.
Prof Babalola said, “We thank God Almighty for this feat. It may or may not mean that we are better than those universities that we beat. What has happened to those big and first generation universities. But, I must say it took extra effort and discipline from our side. This is simply a wake up call for the universities. Others will now wake up. But we must not rest on our oars”.
