Dr Babalola Harps On Gains Of Molecular Biology For Nigeria's Scientific Breakthrough
It was an assemblage of scientists, technologists and students at Chrisland University, Abeokuta on Tuesday May 17, 2003. The issue in focus was how to forge the advancement of Molecular Biology studies and research in the Institution.
The event came in the form of a seminar and training workshop on Molecular Biology techniques facilitated by a scientific organization, Inqaba Biotech in partnership with the University.
Participants at the seminar were lecturers and students in the Departments of Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Medical Laboratory Science.
Speaking at the seminar which held at the University Auditorium, Coordinator, Department of Biotechnology, Dr Oluwatoyin Babalola expressed appreciation to Management for their support for the seminar and for creating a conducive learning environment for scientific innovations and discoveries to thrive in the institution.
Dr Babalola was of the view that more encouragement and support would help in no small way to make Chrisland University students compete internationally.
Dr Babalola however appealed to the Federal Government to devote more funding towards ensuring that well equipped laboratories are available in Nigeria as a way of motivating scientists in the country to put in their best in terms of research discoveries.
She urged the students to make good use of the training opportunity, noting that the programme is the beginning of Chrisland University's partnership with Inqaba Biotech for the advancement of Molecular Biology studies and research.
