CIA Inducts Chrisland University's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babalola, others as Fellows
The Chartered Institute of Administration (CIA) has inducted the Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland University, Professor Chinedum Peace Babalola as a Fellow of the Institute in an induction ceremony held at the University Auditorium on Tuesday, 21st February 2023.
By virtue of her fellowship, she was equally admitted into the College of Fellows of the Institute in recognition of her over 35 years of quality University administration and leadership.
Other Staff of the University inducted as fellows at the occasion were the Registrar of the University, Mr. Samuel Omotoso; the Acting Bursar, Mr. Moses Esah; Dean, College of Arts, Management and Social Sciences, Prof. Temidayo Akinbobola; and Director of Academic Planning, Prof. Shyngle Balogun.
In his opening remarks, the CIA President/Chairman of Council, Adm. (Dr.) Festus Oshoba (FCIA) who led other members of the CIA Council expressed his delight to be part of the auspicious occasion, stressing that the Institute prides itself with excellence and professionalism, ensuring that those desirous of its membership are equipped with requisite administrative knowledge and skills to function as such.
According to him, the Institute has been contributing to human capital development by qualifying professionals in the field of Administration, stating that CIA has the responsibility of training and equipping members to perform effectively and credibly.
Dr. Oshoba admonished the newly inducted fellows and members to participate actively in the Institute's activities in order to keep abreast with professional best practices in the field of Administration, as the Institute demands their loyalty and commitment at all times.
He concluded by thanking the Management of Chrisland University for collaborating with the Institute on its Professional Development Programme, scheduled to commence soon.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babalola in her welcome speech, noted that the mission of CIA is to build a body of professional administrators with the highest level of competence through productive education.
In her words, "if you are an administrator, a lecturer, a student, you have to demonstrate that competence by promoting quality in all spheres”.
She urged all the inductees to ensure that they henceforth place public interests above personal interest in all their endeavours.
Adm. Ugochukwu Azubuko (FCIA), a member of the CIA Council and Chairman, Management Consultancy and Training Committee, in his induction talk emphasized that professional membership of the Institute does not come easily but earned through hard work, professional ethics, determination, integrity, and competence.
He stressed that sensitivity, articulation; ambition, charisma, and logic are the basic essentials for becoming professional administrators.
In her concluding remarks, Prof. Babalola on behalf of the Chancellor of the University, High Chief Dr. Mrs. Winifred Awosika (OON) commended the officials of the Institute for the honor and recognition accorded the University's Officials.
According to her, with the fellowship, she envisions a situation where Chrisland University tops in the field of administration and that as members of the CIA, staff members would exhibit integrity and display competence in all actions at all time.
The Head of Department, Business Administration, Dr. Stephen Ibidunni, a recipient of the Institute's Fellowship who is also the initiator of the CIA/Chrisland University collaboration, expressed his appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for her various supports and interests in the takeoff of the CIA Professional programmes in the University.
His appreciation was also to the entire CIA team for the recognition and their personal interests in the University.
He concluded that with the induction, the final year students of the Department of Business Administration and other interested departments will commence their Professional Programmes without delay, noting that the gate is equally opened for staff to become members of the Institute.
Other inductees conferred with the fellowship and memberships of the CIA at the occasion include Acting HOD, Physiotherapy, Dr. Olufunke Ajiboye; Mr. Olusola Aladesuru; Head, Human Resources, former Head of Academic Affairs, Dr. Mercy Agumadu, and Head, Academic Affairs, Mrs. Funmilayo Adetoye.
