CHRISLAND UNIVERSITY HOSTS OGUN STATE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE

The Ogun State Commissioner of
Police, C.P. Bashir Makama paid a courtesy visit to Chrisland University on
Thursday, 22nd August 2019.

In the Commissioner’s entourage
were: A.C.P. Tola Afolabi, Commanding Officer, Police Mobile Force, S.P.
Idachaba Shedrach, Commanding  Officer,
Quick Response Squad, S.P. Hadiza Abu Oganyi, Kemta Divisional Police Officer
and D.S.P. Abimbola Oyeyemi, Police Public Relations Officer.

On hand to receive the team were the Management
of Chrisland University led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chinedum Peace
Babalola, the Registrar, Mr. David Olowola, the  Dean, College of Arts, Social and Management
Sciences, Professor Femi Otubanjo, the Dean, College of Basic Medical Sciences,
Professor Olufemi Omotade, the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Dr. Oluwatosin
 Adebisi Dosumu, the Director of Academic
Planning, Dr. Ajibola Meraiyebu, the Chief Security Officer, Mr. David Bello
and the Ag. Bursar, Mr. E.T. Adejumo.

The Vice-Chancellor of the
University, Professor Chinedum Peace Babalola welcomed them on behalf of the
Board of Trustees and the Council of the University noting that she was humbled
and excited at the visit saying she and the Commissioner had always spoke
amicably on the phone. She also mentioned that the visit was a special one
lauding him for his prompt treatment of all the University’s requests since his
assumption of office.

She also briefed the Commissioner
of Police about the history of the University as she recognized his impressive
C.V which was reeled out extemporaneously by the Police Public Relations
Officer, S.P Abimbola Oyeyemi while she appreciated the friendship of the Kemta
Divisional Police Officer, S.P. Hadiza Abu with the University.

She extended an invitation to the
Commissioner of Police to take up a part-time teaching appointment in the
department of Criminology and Security Studies of the University as she called
on members of security agencies to come for their post graduate studies in the
department.

The Commissioner of Police
expressed his willingness to respond rapidly to calls from the University in
compliance with Community Policing, which is the norm of Policing in Nigeria
today.

The commissioner enumerated his
strides in arresting, prosecuting and rehabilitating cultists as well as the
unconditional rescue of kidnap victims in the state.  

The commissioner provided certain
security tips that would assist the university after the Vice-Chancellor
mentioned some security lapses around the community.
