Applause As Chrisland University's Accounting Lecturer, Dr. Afolabi Emerges 18th ICAN Chairman For Abeokuta District
The Acting Head of Department, Accounting, and Banking & Finance, Chrisland University, Abeokuta, Dr. Adegboyega Afolabi has emerged the 18th Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Abeokuta District Society, Ogun State.
This followed an election where he was unanimously endorsed as Chairman.
Dr. Afolabi who is the Ag. Director of Part-Time Programme in the University, has various publications, and term papers to his credit, and has supervised more than 200 research works of students at Diploma, Bachelor of Science and Postgraduate degrees levels at various times.
He had worked previously as a lecturer at Crescent University, Abeokuta between 2010 and 2020.
Dr. Afolabi obtained his Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Accounting from Babcock University, Ogun State, Master of Science Degree in Business Administration from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, and
Bachelor of Science Degree in Banking and Finance at the Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University), Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.
He is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and Associate Member, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) among others.
Afolabi is an experienced Examiner, Reviewer, Assesor, and Invigilator for ICAN examinations and have contributed immensely to examination process and development of the Institute.
He has participated in three NUC Accreditation for undergraduate programmes in Accounting out of which he was the Acting Head of Department in two of the undergraduate accreditations, one MSc. (Accounting) and one ICAN accreditation programme and all was successful.
He assumed duty in Chrisland University as an Adjunct lecturer in 2018
He was later offered an appointment as a Senior lecturer in 2020
In 2021, he was elected Vice-Chairman/Technical Secretary of Abeokuta university District Society of ICAN.
Elated by the development, Vice-Chancellor, Chrisland University, Prof Chinedum Peace Babalola, FAS, has conveyed a congratulatory message to Dr Afolabi saying the election signposts positive development and progress for the University.
Prof Babalola appealed to Dr Afolabi "to go forth and shine the light" in line with the institution's mantra of being a citadel of intellectual radiance.
