Funmilola Abeke Adetoye is a seasoned legal officer with over 20 years of post-call experience, specializing in corporate, administrative, and higher education law. As the Head of the Legal Unit at Chrisland University, she oversees the institution’s legal framework, ensuring compliance with regulations, mitigating legal risks, and providing strategic counsel to the university’s leadership.
Her extensive expertise spans various sectors, including administration, contract negotiations, intellectual property, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). She has a deep understanding of the complexities of academic governance and regularly advises on legal matters related to faculty, staff, and student affairs.
Prior to her role at Chrisland, Funmilola had a distinguished career in both private practice and public service, providing legal support to organizations in sectors ranging from pension administration to education. She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, and the Chartered Institute of Administration. She has contributed significantly to various areas of the university, including the establishment of the College of Basic Medical Sciences and the College of Law. Her commitment to the rule of law and dedication to mentorship within the legal profession have earned her a reputation as a leader in the field.
She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. Hons) from Ogun State University and a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Ibadan. She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2003. Funmilola is also actively involved in legal research, focusing on enhancing the legal frameworks within educational institutions in Nigeria.
