Chrisland University Community Law Clinic

The Chrisland University Community Law Clinic is a new private university-based law clinic. It was established in 2021 but began active operations in 2023. Its services are targeted towards people within the university environment and the people of Abeokuta. It focuses on rendering legal aid services to all class of persons but with particular emphasis on vulnerable groups (illiterates, women and children) who lack legal literacy and cannot afford legal representation on both criminal and civil matters. Being a community-oriented Clinic, the CUCLC has found Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms (ADR) in resolving disputes involving these marginalized groups except in non-arbitrable matters. Also, the CUCLC is one given to sustainable development on the environment and public health. In the last two years, the Clinic has advocated for a clean and sustainable environment by mitigating plastic pollution.
