The management and staff of Chrisland University congratulate Professor Oluyemisi Adefunke BAMGBOSE for her conferment with the prestigious title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) by the Legal Practitioners Privileges' Committee. The entire Chrisland community is extremely delighted with this laudable feat.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chinedum Peace Babalola in her congratulatory message said, “Your elevation to this respected and laudable position is an indication of your outstanding contributions to legal profession in Nigeria.”
Prof. Oluyemisi is currently a member, Board of Trustee, Chrisland University and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She is the first female academic in the country to be appointed to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
While announcing the new SANs last Friday in Abuja, the LPPC Secretary told journalists that a total of 106 lawyers with 83 under advocacy and 23 under academic applied for the new rank. Mrs. Mustapha disclosed that at the end of the 135 plenary session of the LPPC, 31 were found worthy of been conferred with the privilege rank.
The Secretary further hinted that the prestigious rank was conferred on the beneficiaries as a mark of excellence having distinguished themselves in their career.
Meanwhile, the new SANs are to be inaugurated on September 24 during the 2018/2019 new legal year of the Supreme Court.
