Mrs. Aderonke Akeredolu whose appointment is the Bursar and the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) of Chrisland University, is the Pioneer Chairperson of the Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria (SWAN) and the Chair/Lead Project Director, Higher Education Resource Services, West Africa (HERS-WA). Aderonke is the Immediate Past Bursar of Obafemi Awolowo University (O.A.U), Ile-Ife where she was trained as a young Accountant II in 1982 and thereby rose through the ranks to become a Deputy Bursar in 1998, a Director in 2007, Acting Bursar in 2012 (as approved by the Honorable Federal Minister of Education) and a Bursar in 2013. Aderonke completed her tenure successfully in O.A.U. in May, 2018 with outstanding achievements like the increase of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) by 49.43%, increase in Personnel Cost Allocation by 10.98% due to show of professionalism in budget defense, completion of four Final Year Audited Accounts and increase in investment funds. She has over 34 years work experience as a finance professional. Aderonke is an alumnus of our Lady of Apostles Primary School, Yaba, Lagos; Holy Child College, Ikoyi, Lagos; Federal School of Arts and Science, Victoria Island, Lagos; University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos; Toronto School of Business, Toronto, Canada and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.

 

Aderonke has contributed immensely to the accounting profession thereby impacting positively, institutions, organizations and individuals. She is a Fellow of reputable professional organizations like the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (FCTI), Fellow of the Institute of Public Accountants (Australia) FIPA, Fellow of the Institute of Financial Accountants (London) FFA, Fellow of the Association of Forensic Accounting Researchers (FFAR) and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management among others. Aderonke has been a member of over 90 committees where she served meritoriously. Aderonke is a recipient of over 23 awards and commendations and has over 34 years work experience as a finance professional.

 

Aderonke has attended over 93 workshops, conferences and seminars within and outside Nigeria like the Council for Advancement and Support Education (CASE), held at San Antonio, Texas in United States of America (USA), HERS- SA ACADEMY held at Cape Town, South Africa, HERS Summer Institute in USA, World Congress of Accountants (WCOA) held at Turkey; Malaysia, Italy and Australia, Fundamentals of Fund Raising (FUNFUN) Workshop, Strategic Leadership Training Workshop held at Ile-Ife, University Leaders’ Forum held at Accra, Ghana, Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) held at London, United Kingdom (UK), Regional Training on Gender, Macro Economic Policy Planning and Budgeting held at Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Leadership Retreat held at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, Institutional Advancement Training Programme Workshop held at Cape Town, South Africa, Women International Leadership Conference held at Dubai, International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Curriculum Development National Workshop held at Abuja, Nigeria, Chief Finance Officer (CFO) Conference held at New Orleans, USA, Academia- Industry Engagement and Interface held at Ikeja, Lagos and Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA) held at Kigali in Rwanda.

 

 Aderonke has authored and co-authored some thesis/journals/publications, and made over 50 academic and administrative presentations within and outside Nigeria. She has participated as a Resource person in many Conferences, Workshops and Seminars in and outside Nigeria and in the interview for the selection of Bursars in various Universities, like Workshop for the Newly Employed Staff of Kwara State University held at Ilorin, Workshop for Researchers held at Osogbo, Workshop for Provost, Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments/Units and Faculty Secretariats held at Ile-Ife, Managing Finance in Higher Institutions held in Ile-Ife, Faculty of Technology Research Colloquium, Accounting Academic Academicians Collaboration Foundation (AACF) 4th Annual International Accounting Conference held in Istanbul, Turkey, 12th World Congress of Accounting Historians held at Istanbul, Turkey and 9th Annual Conference of Asian Academic Accounting Association held in Dubai.

 

Aderonke has been a member of over 80 committees like University Research Committee, Faculty of Agriculture Production Management Board, Pay Parade Exercise, University Strategic Planning Committee, Library Development Committee, Gender Equity Project Scholarship Committee, MBA Executive Board Meeting, Post-UTME Screening Examination Committee, Centre for Energy Research and Development Governing Board Meeting , Investment Company Board Meeting Finance Sub-committee , Development Committee, Ceremonial Committee, Tenders Board Committee, Procurement Planning Committee, Finance and General Purpose Committee and Petty Contract Committee to mention just a few. Aderonke has mentored and continue to mentor Accountants, women, widows, youths, teenagers, children and SWAN members under her. Aderonke facilitated many workshops, seminars and conferences on finance, research, budgeting, student matters, leadership, administration, gender and management like the Association of Bursars of Nigerian Universities (ABNU) workshop, HERS-West Africa conference and SWAN seminars. Aderonke organized in-house staff training in the Bursary Department to develop the staff members.

 

 Aderonke has contributed to the development of the University Gender Policy. Her proposal writing skills have benefited many staff members and students tremendously in terms of raising funds for staff conference attendance, workshops, in-house seminars and students’ orientation programmes among others. Aderonke has led at different occasions, Female Accountants, Women, Youths, teenagers and Children in community service like distribution of gifts to widows, motherless babies’ homes, orphanages, hospitals and prisons. Aderonke has facilitated donations both in kind and cash within and outside Nigeria like donation of three (3) brand new vehicles within a year, scholarship donation at 2006 HERS-SA and scholarship donation at Gender Festival in Tanzania. Aderonke has vast experience in proposal writing, gender mainstreaming and grantsmanship (having been a core member of gender mainstreaming activities for more than 15 years), Strategic Planning since 2003 and budget preparation/defense. Aderonke is highly knowledgeable in the preparation of publication of manuals and booklets on management of finance like Financial Regulations, Audit Manuals, What Every Head of Department should know about Financial procedures and Bursary Procedure Guide to mention a few.

 

Aderonke has been the recipient of over 23 awards and commendations among which she was one of the outstanding Youth Corps Members of the year 1981/1982 in Ondo State, after acting in a play titled “Our Husband has Gone Mad Again” by Ola Rotimi. She was twice declared the Student of the Month while in Toronto School of Business in Canada to pursue a Diploma in Micro Computer Business Applications. She was commended by Professor Rowland Ndoma-Egba-led Governing Council for the level of performance and exhibition of the best Accounting Practices in carrying out necessary financial transactions. Aderonke is a woman of integrity. Among others, she demonstrated this when she was commended by the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) for the refund of over payment of outstanding pension of a sum of N5.7million.

Aderonke has had the privilege of meeting and dining with national and international dignitaries like having cocktail with the Queen of England at the Buckingham Palace, meeting Presidents of Nations, dining with General Overseers and being in the presence of the Pope at the Vatican City in Rome, Italy. Aderonke is happily married to Funso Alaba Akeredolu, a pollution control expert and a Professor of Chemical Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. The marriage is blessed with lovely, intelligent, God-fearing children. Aderonke is an ordained Minister of God with her husband at Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria.
