High Chief Dr. (Mrs.) W.A Awosika (OON), Founder/Chairman, Chrisland Schools Limited and Founder/Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chrisland University was born in Owo on the 13th of February 1940.She had her primary school education at the Government Primary School, Owo before she proceeded to St Anne’s Girls’ School, Molete, Ibadan for her secondary school education. She thereafter attended the Nigerian College of Arts, Science and Technology Enugu, for her intermediate studies and A/Levels. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA)Hons., from the then University College, Ibadan, now the University of Ibadan, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Lagos, in 1974/75.

High Chief Dr. (Mrs.) W.A. Awosika also holds an honorary Doctorate Degree in Management Technology from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the development of the education sector. In addition to this, she is a Fellow of the Ondo State Polytechnic. Prior to the establishment of her first Nursery/Primary School in 1977, the seasoned educationist and administrator par excellence, taught in various public schools including Methodist Girls High School, Yaba and Oshodi Grammar School. In a bid to contribute her own quota to the advancement of education in Nigeria, High Chief Dr. (Mrs.) W. A. Awosika, a woman of great vision, planted a “mustard seed”, establishing a Nursery School with just five (5) children in the boys quarters of her home in Ladipo

Oluwole, Ikeja, Lagos. This she nurtured tirelessly, with the support and encouragement of her late husband, Chief (Dr.) Victor Oloyede Awosika. Today, 38 years after, it has grown and flourished into four (4) Nursery/Primary Schools , four (4) Secondary Schools (in Lagos and Abuja), a Pre degree College, and most recently, Chrisland University, which officially received its licence on the 5th of March, 2015.

A woman of many parts, High Chief Dr. (Mrs.) W. A. Awosika is the Chairman of many blue chip companies. She is also a member of many International Bodies and Associations including the Zonta International and the National Council of Women Society (NCWS), and a Fellow of the Institute of Directors Nigeria. In the year 2004, the Federal Government of Nigeria, conferred on her the National Merit Award – Officer of The Order of The Niger (OON), for her immense contribution and undying interest in the development of the education sector in Nigeria. High Chief Dr. (Mrs.) W. A. Awosika has also received honour and recognition from various parts of the country. She is the Oshobiken of Owo, the Erelu of Okaland, the Yeye Fiwa Joye of Ile Ife and the Yeye Loroo of Ode Remo, to mention a few.

In the religious circle also, she is a force to reckon with. She is the Matron of the Busy Bees Society of Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral, Ikeja and many more. No doubt, to this living legend, High Chief Dr. (Mrs.) W. A. Awosika (OON), through rugged determination, hard work and tenacity, her dream and vision, “to be in the forefront in the private education sector and to nurture the children to be all they can be, through quality all-round education from kindergarten to tertiary level has become a feat accomplished.
